Bryan Barber Captures 2023 Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series Championship

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (December 18, 2023)- The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series has completed its 2023 season and third-generation racer Bryan Barber of Buffalo, KY would win his first Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series championship in a difficult season that saw only three of the originally scheduled sixteen events completed due to weather related and other cancellations and postponements.

Bryan Barber would never finish outside of the top five in any of the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series events that were contested for the 2023 season, scoring one event victory at the season opener at Lake Cumberland Speedway on Saturday June 17. Barber, a 43-year-old third-generation racer, would claim finishes of fifth and third in the other two series events that were completed for the 2023 season. Barber’s winning championship effort would come aboard a Bandit Race Car powered by a Mullins Race Engine with sponsorship from CMC Engineering, Parkway Service Center, FOX Shocks, BFT Logistics, Pro Quip Solutions, Bandit Race Cars, and B&B Motorsports.

Blake Brown of Corbin, KY would finish as the 2023 Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series championship runner-up. Brown, a 24-year-old second generation racer who was the series champion in 2020 and 2021, would score two series victories at 411 Motor Speedway (July 16) and Ponderosa Speedway (August 4). Ben Harmon of Brooks, KY would finish third in series points for the second consecutive season. The 20-year-old third generation driver would tally two top five finishes, with his best finish being a third-place effort at Lake Cumberland Speedway on June 17.

Peyton Harlow of Glasgow, KY would finish fourth in the final 2023 Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series points after finishing second in tour points in 2022. Harlow, championship runner-up. Harlow, a 25-year-old second-generation racer would total three top ten feature finishes, with his best finish being a second-place effort at Lake Cumberland Speedway on June 17. Jacob Hall of Wayland, KY, who was the 2022 series champion, would finish fifth in tour points for the abbreviated 2023 season. The 21-year-old second-generation racer would finish in the top ten of all feature events, with his best finish a fourth place at Lake Cumberland Speedway on June 17.

For the 2023 Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series season, a total of 41 different drivers competed with the tour during the three events that were completed and the average car count per event would be 16.7 entries, with the high car count being 25 at the Area 51 event at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN on July 16. Two different drivers would score series event wins in the three tour events completed, with only one driver scoring more than one victory (Blake Brown of Corbin, KY-2).

With the completion of the 2023 season, the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series will not return for competition for the 2024 season. During the seven-year history of the series which began in 2017, there were 79 events contested at twenty different racing venues in seven states (Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia). Blake Brown of Corbin, KY is the all-time feature win leader with the series with twelve victories. Shon Flanary of Surgoinsville, TN is the all-time top qualifier leader with fifteen fast time awards, and Clayton Miller of Elkton and Adam Stricker of Batavia, OH tied for the all-time heat race win leader with seven heat race checkered flags each. Series champion for the tour during its history as follows: Shon Flanary (2017), Clayton Miller (2018, 2019), Blake Brown (2020, 2021), Adam Stricker (Northern Division-2022), Jacob Hall (Southern Division-2022), and Bryan Barber (2023).
