Hoffman Knocks Out Competition for Mountain Modified Championship Title at Wythe Raceway

RURAL RETREAT, VIRGINIA (May 1, 2021)– The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series would be in action in the Mountain Modified Championship at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA on Saturday evening and fifth-place starting Nick Hoffman of Mooresville, NC would become the third different leader of the event on lap twelve and claim the $3,000 victory and the Mountain Modified Championship title belt, as the event was co-sanctioned between the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series and the Southeast Dirt Modified Series.

Hoffman’s victory made him the fourth different winner in four series events so far in the 2021 season and the win by the 29-year old driver, who also celebrated his birthday with the win, was his second career Brucebilt Iron-Man Modified Series career victory and would come aboard an Elite Chassis using a NASCAR Technical Institute Race Engine and sporting sponsorship from Elite Chassis, NASCAR Technical Institute, Wehr’s Machine and Racing Products, Jerovitz Shocks, FOX Shocks, Willy’s Carbs, and All Star Performance.

Ryan Ayers and Blake Brown would bring the field to the green flag and Ayers would take the race lead over Brown, with that duo followed by Austin Holcombe, Troy Loomis, and Nick Hoffman. Hoffman would take the fourth position from Loomis on lap two, while Brown would challenge Ayers for the lead and take the top spot with a turn four pass on lap four, while Hoffman would work past Holcombe for third on the same circuit. Hoffman would then close in on Ayers and grab the runner-up slot on lap six. The first caution to slow the action would wave on lap eight for a turn two spin by Derek Radford. The restart would see Ayers get a great run on Brown and Ayers would take the top spot on the restart, only to see the caution flag displayed for debris in turn two before a full lap was completed. The next restart would see Brown maintain the lead, with Hoffman claiming second, followed by Ayers, Holcombe, and Loomis. Brown and Hoffman would pull away from the field, with Holcombe taking third from Ayers on lap nine. Hoffman would challenge Brown for the lead on lap eleven and Hoffman would take the race lead from Brown exiting turn four to complete lap twelve. The third caution of the race would appear one lap later when Ayers would spin his machine in turn one.

Hoffman would maintain the lead on the restart, while Holcombe would drive past Brown for second, with seventh-place starting Daniel Parker sneaking past Loomis for the fourth position. Hoffman would quickly stretch his lead, while Brown would challenge Holcombe in an attempt to reclaim the second position and Brown would take the spot back on lap sixteen, with Parker working past Holcombe for third one tour of the track later. Hoffman would start working slower traffic on lap twenty-two, but a caution for Michael Grantham on lap twenty-three would slow the event once again, as Grantham’s machine would put some fluid down onto the race surface. Hoffman would lead the field back to green, with Parker taking second from Brown, followed by Holcombe and Loomis. Parker would slide high and make contact with the wall in turn two on lap twenty-four, allowing Brown to go back into second. The final caution of the race waved on lap twenty-eight when fourth-place running Holcombe would slow with a flat left-rear tire in turn two. The final restart would see Hoffman keep the lead and drive to the checkered flag first, with Brown finishing in second, and Daniel Parker claiming the final podium position with a third-place effort. Tenth-place starter Ricky Tinch would charge in the final few laps to finish fourth, while Chris Arnold would complete the top five. The remainder of the ten finishers would be Loomis, Wayne James, Holcombe, Radford, and Grantham.

The next event for the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will be at Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN on Saturday May 15, paying $1,200 to win and $125 to start. This event was originally scheduled for April 24 but was postponed due to inclement weather.
